The Fishing Connection or Spot On Hobart is currently Hobart’s oldest operating Tackle store located in Hobart’s CBD.
Spot On Hobart employs fishers that also just happen to be staff! If we are truthful these people are fishing experts and fish locally and regularly overseas.
The Fishing Connection specialises in both freshwater fishing and saltwater fishing tackle and will cater for all your fishing needs.
Whether you are into flathead, squid, salmon , tuna, or trout or would simply like to try your hand at any of the many different fishing styles like – fly fishing, game fishing, bait or lure we have the tackle for you.
Rods, reels, hooks, lures, bait and fly we have the fishing gear to temp the fussiest of fish species.
At Spot on Hobart we like to get you outdoors and fishing in some iconic Tasmanian locations – from Tasmanian highland lakes to Tasmanian coastal waters we like to have you fitted out in the latest outdoor technical wear and outdoor equipment.

Steve Bax
Steve opened The Fishing Connection in July 1986 after realising a dream to own and run a retail fishing tackle store. Steve has over 40 years experience in the fishing retail industry first starting WS Edwards in Salamanca.
Steve is a past member AFTA (Australian Fishing Tackle Association) and is a current serving member of TARFish.
Steve has extensive estuary, game and general fishing experience – his passions being sea run trout and tuna.
